About the academy

Colleges and Universities are complex workplaces with a broad range of health, safety and environmental hazards. Managing Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) programs at a university presents unique challenges, including hiring and retaining professionals with a comprehensive awareness of all EH&S programs. The University of California EH&S Academy is a 30-hour training workshop that will provide EH&S professionals or others with health and safety responsibilities with an overview of the technical and administrative programs unique to the field.

An overview of the following topics will be presented: EH&S Management, Laboratory / Research Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Environmental Protection and Sustainability, Hazardous Materials, Vehicle and Equipment Safety, General Workplace Safety, and Training. Activities include discussion of hot topics and Train-the-Trainer session(s).
The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) has approved attendance at the EH&S Academy for 3.5 certification maintenance points.

ABIH Certification Maintenance Points. This program was approved for 0.5 point 0.5 day, 3.5 Industrial Hygiene CM Points. For verification purposes, please revew the ABIH approval letter, roster, and daily sign-in sheet.
